Climate activist holding placard saying "Planet over profit"

👋🏽 Hi, I’m Ray.

I’m a freelance sustainability copywriter. My mission? To persuade so many readers to go sustainable that I write myself out of a job. More about me.

I work with people like you

Climate organisations

Between climate change, polluters, and disinformation, you're plenty busy as it is. And that’s on top of fundraising.

What if you could help funders believe in your work? What if you could help them know you and trust you? So that when the time comes to fundraise, you’ve already got them on board?

Sustainable brands

Sustainable brands face 2 obstacles: consumers think you’re greenwashing. Or they think you’re too expensive.

What if you could prove to customers that your brand is worth it and your claims are legit. What if you could prove your brand is not just greener, but hands-down a better buy?

Can you really win over funders and consumers?

You can. But it takes a solid strategy. And lots and lots of writing.

Working 29 hours a day? Scared your words might make you look bad? I can help. I’m a pro. Writing’s what I do. 👊🏽

How it works – 4 magic formats

  • Landing pages

    Landing pages build clarity.

They give your reader a clear understanding of what you do and why it’s awesome. And a clear next step to support you.

Here’s a landing page I helped create for a startup and another about rewilding.

  • About pages

    About pages build connection.

Because you don’t do business with a service, do you? You do business with a person. That’s why we skip straight to the About page when we visit a website.

Here's an About page I helped create for a startup.

  • LinkedIn posts

    LinkedIn posts build visibility.

I can think of no better way to put your brand or your organisation in the spotlight than by rocking up on LinkedIn with regular posts.

Here's one of my LinkedIn posts about sustainability.

  • Blog posts

Blog posts build website traffic (SEO👋🏽).

They answer questions your readers may have. They build the trust that turns website visitors into funders or customers.

This is a blog post for an SEO agency and a climate article from my Substack.

Why I’m your sustainability copywriter.

12+ years

Beating words into order.

12+ years

Coming at the written word from every angle – translator, copy editor, proofreader, plain-language writer, content writer, copywriter.

12+ years

Being the valued partner of translation, agencies, comms agencies, SEO agencies, mid-sized pharmaceuticals, medical device manufacturers, universities, clinical researchers, tech startups, and fellow freelancers.

12+ years

Building the knowledge to lead a sustainable life. From the bottle of shampoo that kickstarted my journey. To pouring earthen floors, ditching the car, dodging meat, growing food and buying local – and yes, buying local is part of our sustainable future, since sustainability is about people, not just carbon.

If it’s worked for them, it can work for you too.

“I had high expectations for this project. But I must say, I’m delighted with Raymond’s work, which was careful and thorough.

He was also great to work with, quick to reply, methodical and willing to go the extra mile.

He gave us a clear, transparent process that provided us with us exactly what we needed. I’d definitely recommend him to my network.”

VINCENT GOUEDARD, CEO FINCOME

CEO of Fincome, a fintech startup

“What I liked most about working with Raymond was his attention to detail, his suggestions and remarks in the comments, and his detailed grasp of on-page SEO.

I would refer him without a second’s hesitation.

Three words that describe Raymond? Trustworthy, meticulous, and a great team player. And my final piece of feedback: Ray, don’t change a thing!”

LUCIE LAVAL, CEO CONTENTACTIC

multilingua seo client.

“We were revamping all our marketing assets and needed outside help with the writing.

Before working with Raymond, we were afraid it would take him ages to get up to speed with our internal processes and terminology. But Raymond’s work has been so much better than expected. And not just the quality, but the turnaround and teamwork as well. I’d refer Raymond to others without the slightest hesitation

BENJAMIN DORION, AXIUM MTECH

Marketing manager, medical device manufacturer

I am not the copywriter for you if…

Time is always tight. It takes time to grasp a brief. To research a project. To conduct interviews and mature insights into a clear message. Yes, I work to deadlines. Yes, I accept the odd rush job. But if every job’s a rush job, I’m not the writer for you.

My rates seem too expensive. If your budget’s tight, we can adapt. We can chip away at the brief until it fits your budget. But just so know: I NEVER lower my rates. They are what they are for a reason. And they are in line with standard rates in the sector.

Sustainability is a scam. We’re all at different points in our sustainability journey. As long as there’s transparency, I’m good to go. But just so you know: I am in climate comms to do the most good. Not to fool readers with false sustainability claims. 🤨

Teamwork is not in your vocabulary. To make your project a success, we must work together. I’ll need a clear brief, detailed answers and constructive feedback. It will take time and energy. If that sounds like too much work, I’d rather pass.

Still think we’re a good fit?

Book your 30-minute Zoom call with me. Tell me what you want to achieve. I’ll listen and ask questions. We’ll both pretend to be really serious.

By the end, you’ll either a) know how to write the thing yourself, b) hire me to write it for you, or c) know who to contact if I’m not the best fit for what you need.

One last thing – what if you’re not happy?

In over a decade of freelancing, only 1 client’s been unhappy with my work. I didn’t invoice them. In the crazy event you’re unsatisfied client no. 2, I won’t invoice you either.

Do read my Terms & Conditions. A few tweaks are to be expected with every piece of writing. And they’re usually enough to make everyone excited about the final delivery.
