Back in the day

I started out as a freelance medical translator and copy editor in 2012. I was really good at it. But medicine was never my thing. And after 10 years in the field, I needed a change.

A new direction

I switched to sustainability copywriting in 2021:

Sustainability Because I read about it, talk about it and argue about it. I take courses in it. And if the dirt under my nails is anything to go by, I practise it too. So why not use this knowledge for my clients?

Copywriting Because good copywriting makes people smoke cigarettes and buy expensive cars. So why not use it to sell a safer, happier, more prosperous future instead?

Nowadays, I use my sustainability + copywriting to help climate orgs and sustainable brands get inside their readers’ heads.

Topics I eat for breakfast:

Food, mobility, biodiversity, rewilding, conscious consumerism, the circular economy, social justice, and energy (from the user’s perspective).

Outside my work

I grew up by the sea in a tiny village in Ireland. Now I live in rural France.

With my family, we’re renovating a barn with clay-building techniques, reclaimed materials and sustainable design.

We’re also rehabilitating 5 acres of land with trees, ponds, ducks, geese and bees. (And maybe goats, if they behave!)

When I’m not writing, building or growing, I’m usually getting trashed at badminton.
